Dr. DeSilva is a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked in a variety of settings treating a wide range of psychological conditions and severities. Dr. DeSilva specializes in working with depressive disorders, anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and OCD, anger management, PTSD, emotion regulation, personality disorders, and relationship struggles. Dr. DeSilva provides individual, couples, and family therapy for adults, adolescents, and children.

Dr. DeSilva uses a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) treatment approach and works collaboratively with her patients to help build balance among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Dr. DeSilva helps her patients identify realistic and attainable goals and prioritizes maintaining a strong therapeutic alliance throughout the process. In addition to CBT, Dr. DeSilva provides psychoeducation on skills, such as mindfulness, derived from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to assist her patients with emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. Dr. DeSilva reminds her patients that they already possess many tools and skills for reaching their goals and collaborates with her patients to implement them more effectively. Dr. DeSilva believes in achieving a balance between acceptance and change to improve quality of life.

Dr. DeSilva received her doctoral degree from Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles County, a program which is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). She completed practicum training during her graduate education at Harbor UCLA Medical Center where she solidified her interests in the CBT and DBT treatment models and received extensive training on other evidenced-based approaches such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Dr. DeSilva completed her pre-doctoral internship at Range Mental Health Center, a community mental health agency that operates as a network of various clinical settings, from outpatient to residential, to meet the diverse needs of individuals across the unique geographical area of the Iron Range in Northern Minnesota. It is here that Dr. DeSilva received rigorous training working with a rural community within various settings, such as an acute crisis center, schools, and dual diagnosis and substance abuse residential centers. This challenging experience gave her the opportunity to work with varying severities of several disorders such as mood disorders, substance abuse, and personality disorders within a small town community atmosphere. The diverse clinical exposure combined with the unique and humbling cultural backdrop of this area helped shape Dr. DeSilva into the psychologist she is today.
